Okay, so I've been experimenting with drawing lately. Basically ever since I got back into DeviantART and started getting really inspired by all of the amazing work I've seen, and a short time ago I decided that I would try my hand at drawing again. Ideally, with a lot of practice, I want to be able to draw half-decent portraits and all of the arty stuff that's been floating around in my head that I can't seem to find another way to express.

I just submitted my very first portrait, and I'd really appreciate any comments or critique on it. I'm really motivated to get better and refine my skills, and I definitely think this is something that I'm going to be continuing with. It could also very possibly lead into experimentation in other areas of traditional art.

The reason I chose Lena Olin was because I find her a fascinating person - her face, her voice, essentially everything about her interests me. I was watching a movie she was in the other day ('Awake' and it inspired me to sit down and draw her. From a source picture, no less, but it was freehand at least.

Honestly it could be better, her lips look a bit retarded and in the preview photo it looks like she has a moustache but I think it's an excellent first try.
